We live in time fearmongering. Everything around us is directed to induce fear within – news, articles, films, the stories you hear from your friends about their exes. Fear has become such an ingrained emotion in our day to day life, that it would be impossible for many of us to picture a life of peace and quiet. As a result, many of us feel the need to protect ourselves from countless possibilities of emotional suffering. This is something that led to what I called an era of nonchalance. Strangely enough, in time where practically everything is aimed at separating us - from social media and the rise of AI assistants, to the growing reluctance to get out of our comfort zone as a result of the rising standards of convenience - we only seem to expedite the process of individual separation. When did the game of who cares less become a priority, overshadowing the raw emotional expression that makes us unique? It is ironic, but in striving to be more nonchalant, we lose our individuality, merging with the wide, homogenous demographic of people all acting the same. The whole point of coming across as mysterious, leading to social attention, is nonexistent.
