Unlike most animals, humans live with acute awareness that time is finite. We are used to thinking that there is a beginning, middle, and end to everything. Our minds are wired to arrange life in a sequence, and really, it’s close to impossible for the majority to imagine what infinity would look and feel like.
Hypothetically speaking, if we were to gain the certainty of our immortality, the immortality of the spirit, how would things be different? Would time still matter? And what about rushing ahead of others to succeed, prioritizing work over human relationships, competing with your peers who has the most expensive car? Would there be such a thing as fear, anxiety or jealousy if one was promised an inexhaustible resource of time at their disposal?
