Description

Can every US President claim Welsh descendancy? Where are the Welsh speaking enclaves of North America? Was it only mining which brought Welsh families to the ‘New World’?

Robert Humphries: is the inaugural director of the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Centre in Wymore, Nebraska in the USA. He is an independent scholar and translator with a master’s degree in Celtic studies from the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David. His research focuses on the Welsh diaspora in the United States during the 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly examining the role of the Welsh language in shaping ethnic identity and its interaction with American society and politics.

In addition to his scholarly work, Robert has co-produced the documentary ‘Pobl y Paith/People of the Prairie’, which explores Welsh immigration and settlement in Nebraska.
