WHY IS THIS ACTUALLY GOOD?
Despite everything going against it, the first Sonic movie ended up being a big hit with fans and audiences. Going forward, there were two paths the filmmakers could've walked in response to it: venturing further away from the material, or embracing it even harder. Thankfully, Fowler and co. did the latter, as the sequel that arrived two short years later brought about so much more for fans to adore -- while also being surprisingly wholeheartedly good.
