In recent years, students who scored well in class were exempt from the cumulative semester test. This school year we switched to the alternative calendar which changed some things.
The new calendar has fewer school days = fewer student-contact days (were used for review days)
Admin decided not to give an exam in exchange for students attending all school days
Some students do best in day-to-day work but perform poorly with cumulative tests--some may have test anxiety, time conflicts to study, etc.
