Description

The Coral Castle, located in an unicorporated area of Florida was built by Edward Leedskalnin. The building is made of oolite limestone and is comprised of stones weighing several tons. The unique feature of the construction was that the stones were sculpted into various shapes including a crescent moon, tables, chairs, sundial, slab walls and a water fountain.

Leedskalnin spent more than 28 years building the structure.

Tonight, McClure will discuss his research and book pertaining to Leedskalnin and the castle. He will discuss the possibility that Leedskalnin used ancient techniques to raise and lower the heavy stones during construction.

McClure is advisor and venture capitalist to numerous entrepreneurial projects.

He’s previously served as President and CEO of The Brown Publishing Company, a regional newspaper holding company, and Famous Sportswear, a national distributor of college logo merchandise.

With a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University and a Harvard MBA, he teaches an entrepreneur course at his undergraduate alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan University.

He is the son of Ellen Crosley McClure, who is the daughter of Lewis M. Crosley, the direct descendant of the Crosley brothers. Rusty lives with his wife and children in Dublin, Ohio.
