When dashing brain surgeon Kevin Fields (Michael Vartan) and charming artist/dog walker Charlie Cantilini meet-cute three times in one day, they have no choice but to fall truly, madly, deeply in love. Kevin takes Charlie to meet his mother, Viola (Jane Fonda) — a celebrity talk show host who is barely holding it together after a career-destroying on-air meltdown — and surprises both women by proposing to Charlie on the spot.
These two seem destined for happily-ever-after, but Viola is convinced that Charlie isn’t good enough for her son and hatches a plan to drive them apart. Will Kevin and Charlie’s love survive the wrath of the Monster-in-Law?
