I have always been an overachiever; it’s a gift and a curse. The gift is to be multi-tasking, and the curse is that sometimes I feel it is important to focus on one thing and do that. Says, DJ Bliss.
In this episode of Shift with CJ, I am joined by an Emirati disc jockey who has been felicitated with many awards and is world-famous, DJ Bliss. He has been referred to as the "Middle East's representative of Beats" by Dr. Dre and has toured internationally playing at venues in Mauritius, Paris, Barcelona, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
Marwan Parham Al Awadhi (commonly known as DJ Bliss) is an emcee, TV presenter, and radio personality working in Dubai. Besides being actively involved in the nightclub and DJ scene in Dubai, he is known for his music production, including co-producing Wyclef Jean and releasing his own single and compilation album "The Projects." The album was released on BMGI Middle East and was top 10 on the Middle East album chart of Virgin. He is also credited as one of the first Emirati DJs to go on a world tour.
DJ bliss advises people to “Be yourself and be good to people as I feel the universe works in very mysterious ways and what goes around comes around. If you think there is a job that you could do for free, that’s what your passion is, and that’s where you need to work hard to make yourself happy. A person should have an attitude of gratitude, and success will come along. “
“Do you meet many young people who see you as their idol and want to become like you?” I asked him.
“Sure, I get a lot of people who say they want to become like DJ Bliss, and it’s an honor for me, but I have to say it takes a lot of energy and hard work to achieve a certain goal. It’s not like one day you wake up and make something your motive and believe that you can do it just because your idol can. You need to make the impossible possible by your own will and train your body and mind to focus and make it happen. If I see that hunger in someone to actually achieve their desires, I try to help them as much as I can.” Replied DJ Bliss.
My next question to him was, “Has touring or irregular work caused you any depression or health issues, as according to a study, 60% of the musicians suffer that.”?
“You will always meet different kinds of people in the world of entertainment. Everyone deals with their ups and downs. As for me, I always look forward to going to a party or any social event and anticipate the music as my passion for music has not faded even after so many years. No matter if it is a club of five hundred people or a concert of twenty thousand people, here is where I find my bliss, and I want people to find theirs. My mind is still set on being a DJ as this is where I belong.” was DJ Bliss’s answer.
DJ Bliss continues to expand the boundaries of music and entertainment. Stay tuned for new music in the pipeline and listen to this podcast to know more about him.
