D'Lisa Kelley, a devoted mother, went missing in March 2014 on her way to her best friend's wake. Her sister received a distressing phone call from D'Lisa's phone, hearing her scream for help before the call abruptly ended. Despite her family's efforts to locate her, the police response was initially slow and dismissive. A week later, D'Lisa's body was found severely beaten and strangled on the porch of an abandoned house. The case remains unsolved, but her family continues to seek justice and has successfully advocated for the creation of the Kelley alert, which aims to improve police response in missing person cases in Texas.
