In this week’s podcast John and Bryan sit down with VanDyk Branch Manager and Loan Officer, Greg Morga, who with less than 3 years in the industry, has closed over $20 million in loans.
With a background in wireless sales, Greg made his debut into the mortgage industry when he was given an opportunity to work as a loan partner alongside a top producing loan originator. This is where he discovered his love for the business.
From humble beginnings, Greg understands and emphasizes the importance of starting from the bottom. His philosophy is – it’s all about your mindset. To him, if you think about money, you fail. If you think about winning, you win.
Early on in his career, Greg realized the importance of tracking his performance. He began building his career by going to open houses and networking with realtors face-to-face.
And his hard work paid off. In his first year, he closed $12 million, in 2020 he closed $37 million, and in the first 5 months of 2021 – he closed over $20 million in loans.
Greg goes on to share the secrets to his success, which is generating referrals by building genuine relationships. Though he began building his business by calling Zillow leads, today Greg attributes 90% of his business to referrals.
When he found that he was closing 12 loans a month, he realized he would need to build a team to keep moving forward. Which is exactly what he did. Another one of his philosophies? “Once you are content, you can’t grow.”
