In this week’s episode, John and Bryan sit down with Realtor Rookie Alison Martinez, of Serenity Realty in Ohio, who – in her first year in the industry – closed 50 sides. Alison shares the secrets to her success, which are (1) networking (2) finding a mentor and (3) education.
Alison begins the episode by sharing her transition into the industry and her early experiences. Having spent the last 15 years working as a bartender, Alison was ready to take on real estate full time. After years eagerly watching top podcasts in the industry, Alison felt empowered to leave her bartending career behind and jump straight in.
With no prior experience – or contacts – Alison looked to her current network. In fact, she tells the men how she landed her 1st listing from a bar client referral.
Alison discusses her experience generating referrals and working leads. She goes on to share how fellow realtors can decipher the good leads from the bad, and how to work through them all.
Alison continues by sharing insight into the current housing market. She tells us that most offers are still going 10k over the listed sale price. And although the market is slowing down in Ohio, like the rest of the country, they are still seeing multiple offers on listing.
The men ask her about her secrets to success, to which Alison replies that her biggest success came from having a good mentor. As well as posting regularly on social media and portraying herself as the local real estate expert. She emphasizes the importance of being available for her clients, stating that her most important MUST DO TIP is answering the phone every time is rings – and calling right back if a call is missed. This is how you build fruitful relationships and remain consistent.
Lastly, Alison shares her plans for the future, which are to give back to new agents in the field and add new members to her team, who are eager to join the real estate industry.
