The Coming of the Son of Man
Matthew 24:29-31
“As the lightning cometh” (Matthew 24:27). Lightning is characterized by speed and suddenness. When looking at a stormy sky, suddenly lightning will streak across the sky. Christ’s return will be like that. In the midst of stormy conditions on the earth, suddenly Christ will return. The suddenness of the return warns there will be no time to repent when He returns. “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed” (Proverbs 29:1).
