Description

This picture is described in Psa 2:2, "The rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed." One of the group served as a spokesman. The word nomikos, translated "lawyer," means one trained in the Law, a scribe. The question is again to test Jesus, seeking an answer that would indict Him for blasphemy. The scribes said there were 613 laws, with 248 being affirmative and 365 being negative. Some even argued that the commandment to wear fringes on the garments was the greatest of the 613!
