Georgia-Lost 15 players to the NFL draft… and they’re replacing 5 coaches. Stetson Bennett will be the Kenny Pickett of 2022. Georgia did lose some big time wideouts… but they are loaded at TE… they have 3 of the nations top 15 tight-ends. With losing so many guys… depth will be an issue. Bennett threw the ball almost 50% less than Bryce Young. While Bennett had a good season… it wasn’t spectacular. Tennessee-TN set a team record high for yards… points and TDs last year. And that was to be expected under this new high flying offense… but maybe not in the 1st year. Hooker was responsible for 36 TDs and 3 Interceptions last year… and he didn’t start the first 2 games. Hooker was elite at every level last year… it doesn’t matter what part of the passing game you look at it. And reading beat reporter articles… he looks significantly better this year. Who is going to step up at WR other than Cedric Tillman? USC transfer Bru McCoy hasn’t been cleared to play yet. Defensively… gave up more than 40 points 5 times. This defense is supposed to give up big plays… and make big plays. They led college football in tackles for loss last year. Vanderbilt- God I feel sorry for Clark Lea… but this year he gets a little break schedule wise. During the SEC media days Lea name Mike Wright the starting QB. Defensively… they were the worst in the SEC in yards and points allowed. But digging into the numbers… it wasn’t all the defense. It was more the offense was so bad they didn’t give the defense a chance. I’m not sure they win an SEC game… they could knock off Missouri. Missouri- This offense needs to be more consistent against good teams… they show up against lower competition but vanish against real teams. If they got to 400 yards… they won every time. And when they didn’t hit that mark… they went 1-6. The Missouri defense was the 2nd worst in the SEC… but I’d argue they were actually the worst. They are also bringing in a big time safety from Clemson. And this defense must be better against the run… last year they gave up 5.3 yards per rush… they gave up more than 200 yards on the ground 7 times. Kentucky ran for 341… and Tennessee smashed on the ground for 458. Florida-6 of Florida’s first 7 games… will all be played in the swamp. That first one against Utah… could set up how both teams go for the entire year. There is one thing to best excited about on this team… Anthony Richardson. But he has to be more accurate… 8% of all his passes last year.. could have been intercepted. For comparison.. Bryce Young was 3%. This defense scored outside the top 50 in scoring last year… and oh my god… the run defense last year was dreadful. The story of this team is depth… and playmakers on both sides of the ball. I’m not sure who is going to step up to be a big time receiver. The strength of this team is probably the corners and safeties. I’m going to spoil it right off the top… if it wasn’t for their garbage schedule… there is no way that happens. Kentucky has lost people… this isn’t Alabama. We have the question if it’s possible for Georgia to reload. If that’s a potential problem… then it definitely is for Kentucky. I don’t think they are to the level where they can restock every single year. Defensively they are outside the top 100 against the pass. The Game Cocks landed a massive transfer at QB in Spencer Rattler.. maybe getting benched helps wake up the former Heisman favorite. They also have terrific pass catchers at tight end and wideout. As far as defense goes… Georgia had the best pass d in the SEC… NOT. South Carolina did… now that could be because they couldn’t stop the run and that’s what everyone was doing to them. #sec #collegefootball #secfootball #tennesseefootball #gatorsfootball #mizzou #georgiafootball #gamecocknation #anchordown #kentuckyfootball
