Known for taking an initiative to doubt the default and challenge the status quo, Chris Vrakas is a relentlessly curious, lifelong learner, recurring early-adopter, and a rebellious independent thinker who has long embraced the powers of wide-ranging, interdisciplinary exploration. Aside from a storied history in the music business, Chris is a technologist at heart, a bitcoin and open-blockchain enthusiast, a hacker, a philosopher, an aspiring author, a graphic designer, a fan of fashion, a careful observer of the political and economic landscapes, and a student of everything in-between. In our rapidly changing, technology-driven world, traditional industry lines are beginning to blur - becoming increasingly interconnected and ever-more complex. By continuing to unlock the powers of human versatility, Chris aspires to reorient the public narrative while helping to steer progress in a positive and forward-thinking direction. Professionally, Chris is a well-established veteran of the music business with over a decade of experience as a DJ, producer, talent buyer, concert promoter, event coordinator, nightlife consultant, artist manager, and an owner at two of Milwaukee’s most successful nightlife establishments. Much of his early career was spent as a touring DJ where he clocked in over 300 gigs per year and produced a variety of one-off club nights across the state of Wisconsin; eventually leading to a partnership with one of the countries largest event production companies, React Presents. As the Wisconsin point-man for React, Chris went on to produce over 700 hard-ticket concert events and festivals ranging in size and scope from smaller 300-capacity theater shows to arenas and large-scale festival’s where attendance numbers often reached in the tens of thousands. As the owner of two nightclubs, Oak Lounge and Site 1a, Chris has proved that world-class nightlife could not only be possible in Milwaukee, WI, but could also co-exist alongside some of the biggest nightclub institutions in America. Despite a humbling 250-person capacity, Site 1a has hosted the likes of Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, Zeds Dead, Paul Oakenfold, and hundreds of other world-renowned DJ’s. If you’ve attended an electronic dance music event, visited a prominent club night, or bought a ticket to attend a DJ-driven festival in Wisconsin in the last decade, Chris was likely involved in helping to make it happen. In March of 2019, Chris sold Site 1a and took a step back from the music world to rebalance his interests, assess his updated aspirations, and begin authoring a new journey forward.
