Donna Fathi, a 43-year-old mother of two and a wife, has been a part of the hair industry since 1995. She opened her own shop in Vancouver, Studio D Hair Salon, employing many up-and-coming barbers and stylists. It became one of Vancouver's biggest and busiest hair salons and barbershops, with an average staff of 20. In 2019, Donna discovered scalp micropigmentation (SMP) and decided to take a course to assist her clients experiencing hair loss, offering FLAWLESS SMP. She quickly became enamored with the art of scalp micropigmentation, becoming the first artist in Canada to master the sharp edge-up technique, leveraging her barbering background. In 2022, she partnered with SMP by Rachel to open an SMP Clinic in the Fairmont Medical Building. Together, they founded the Vancouver INK Academy, teaching scalp micropigmentation and performing SMP services. Donna Fathi is also a Pro Team Member with Blendz, from ArtOfSMP by Chris Herrera, and is committed to expanding the industry and increasing awareness about SMP as an effective hair loss solution.
She believes that educating more artists about SMP will help spread knowledge about this amazing hair loss solution. Donna dedicated two years to creating an online SMP course to aid existing SMP artists in continuing their education. The positive feedback revealed that many artists learned more from her online course than from their in-person training. However, Donna still advocates for mandatory in-person training to ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding. The online training aims to supplement learning, allowing students to delve into details at their own pace. Her goal is to ensure that every artist entering the industry behaves professionally, contributing to the industry's positive growth. As SMP artists, Donna feels it is crucial to educate potential clients about red flags to watch for and to showcase their best work.
