We've all heard it. Maybe even seen it. That all-call system used to alert us of a missing or abducted child? That high-pitched sound your cell phone makes to tell you another child has gone missing, or the Interstate signs that plaster an out-of-state license plate of a getaway car? Those are known in over 33 countries for an AMBER Alert or America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. As of May 2022, the Amber Alert system has recovered 1,114 kidnapped or abducted children. There are also 82 Amber Alert systems in place worldwide. It all started with 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was abducted on January 13, 1996, while she was out riding her bike. Unfortunately, children continue to go missing every day. Join Deb, with her special guests - Beth and Bailey - from the True Crime podcast True Crime BnB as we compare events leading up to Amber's disappearance with a similar case that occurred in Georgia less than two years later.
