Description

Catherine “Kate” Lawler was born in Killanne, Ireland, into a very poor family. She learned to steal at a very early age, and eventually served time in prison as early as age 15. After accumulating numerous arrests throughout her early life Kate eventually left for Liverpool, England, where she began working for Julia Martha Thomas as a maid. Unfortunately, the two women did not see eye to eye much of the time. We know criminals don't change their ways, and on on March 22, 1879, after she sat for a few rounds of drinks at the local pub, Kate returned to Julia’s house, waited for her to return from church, then attacked her. What comes next is unimaginable.
