Russell and Shirley Dermond were married for 64 years and were quite active in their Eatonton, GA community. Russell golfed, Shirley played bridge, and they both enjoyed attending neighbourhood parties. In fact, on May 3, 2014, they both had plans to attend a Kentucky Derby event but never showed up, which did not go unnoticed. By May 6th, concerned neighbours when to check up on the Dermond couple and discovered a grisly scene. Russell was found decapitated in his garage, and Shirley was found days later submerged in Lake Oconee. Investigators began looking for leads in this case, which remains unsolved today.
