Alright folks, settle in and chill out as we dive into Session 70 of The Early Sessions, Book 2 of the Seth Material, recorded way back on July 13, 1964. We have a guest for this session, John Bradley (or "Philip," as his entity is known), who's in a bit of a funk about his job. Seth, in his infinite and often hilarious wisdom, decides to play career coach and relationship counselor, all while planning a party and a bar crawl.

The Cosmic Career Coach

John's in a classic bind: his drug company wants a corporate clone for a promotion, and he's anything but. He's about to meet the big bosses and is feeling the pressure. Seth's advice is a masterclass in radical authenticity.

• Don't Fake It: Seth lays it out plain and simple: "Philip cannot be different than he is, and any attempt at pretense will betray him, and not serve his purpose." The very originality the company finds challenging is, in fact, his greatest asset and the source of his success so far.
• Stand Your Ground: This is no time to be a pushover. Seth insists that compromising on core principles will be interpreted not as cooperation, but as weakness. True strength, he explains, is the result of clear communication between the inner self and the outer self that faces the world.
• The Paradox of Risk: Here’s the killer insight that will have you rethinking your entire approach to negotiation: "What you are willing to jeopardize, you will not jeopardize. What you fear to jeopardize, you will lose." Seth's telling him that if he’s mentally prepared to walk away to protect his integrity, the company will bend to his terms rather than lose him.

Relationship Real Talk

Seth then pivots, with his trademark wit, to John's personal life, specifically the friction with his wife.

• The Unseen Self: The problem isn't what John's wife sees, but what she doesn't. John has only presented her with the "husband, breadwinner, father" persona. He’s hidden his true, independent inner self.
• Bewildered by Authenticity: When John does act from his core self, his wife is "bewildered, confused, and imagines that you are demented." It's a classic case of a communication breakdown. He hasn't shown her the full picture, so any deviation from the established, safe image is frightening to her.
• The Path Forward: The solution isn't a dramatic revelation but a gradual introduction of his true nature into the relationship. This will allow her to see the whole man, not just the role he plays, and in time, make her less fearful.

Seth's Humorous Asides

Amidst the heavy-duty advice, Seth is in top form, even complaining that Jane's (Ruburt's) hair is making his non-physical neck warm: "Ruburt confuses me with this long horsey mane; my neck grows warm." He then suggests the whole crew go on a "trip from bar to bar" to cheer John up, promising to tag along as a "silent partner," though things could get "quite amusing" if they let him talk.
