Session 327 The Art of Psychic Displacement
Welcome to the chillest corner of the multiverse. Today, we’re unpacking some high-level psychic gymnastics from Session 327 recorded March 20, 1967.
The Cosmic Body-Swap
Seth kicks things off by explaining that clairvoyance, precognition, and even these sessions themselves are essentially forms of "projection." It turns out that while Jane (Ruburt) is speaking for Seth, there’s a bit of a psychic musical chairs situation going on.
- Psychic Displacement: Seth describes the sessions as a "psychic displacement" where he and Jane might merge personalities, or Jane might step aside so completely that Seth’s projection takes over the driver's seat.
- The Invisible Commute: Seth notes: "The waking self may be engaged in normal activities while the inner self is someplace else entirely." You might think you’re just zoning out, but your inner self might be halfway across the galaxy.
- A Quote to Ponder: "The projection takes place on both Ruburt’s part and my own, and represents a psychic displacement of a kind."
Hacking the Waking State
If you want to catch yourself in the act of projecting while you’re wide awake, Seth says you’ve got to level up your dream recall first. It’s a bit like trying to look at the bottom of a river without stopping the water from flowing.
- Transparency Mode: You have to let your normal waking consciousness become "transparent" without disturbing its flow.
- The Layer Cake of Reality: Directly beneath your daily thoughts, you’ll find dream images. Beneath those? Light or darkness that leads to the projection environment.
- Don't Flip the Switch: The trick is not to shut off the waking mind. If you turn it off, you lose the ability to study what’s happening. You’re aiming to be the observer and the observed at the same time.
- Seth’s Pro Tip: "You are following levels of your own consciousness until you discover yourself in an environment of which the ordinary waking consciousness had been previously unaware."
The "Watching Self" and Your Superpowers
There is a part of you—a "higher faculty"—that watches your ego. This is the part of the self Seth usually works with.
- The Inner Ego’s Scout: This portion of you is aware of your conscious and subconscious motivations, plus all those "extra-curricular" projections into other realities.
- Expansion Pack: By practicing these exercises, you aren't creating new abilities; you're just becoming aware of what you already are. The self grows as you use it.
- Limitations are Optional: Seth reminds us that the only real limitations are the ones we create ourselves.
Thoughts as Objective Reality
Hold onto your hats: Seth says every single thought you have is a projection.
- Objective Impact: Your thoughts leave you and exert an objective effect on the physical environment. They literally form your world.
- Independent Agents: Once a thought is projected, it acts independently of you, even though it’s a part of your psychic identity.
- A Final Insight: "The thoughts themselves, also psychic realities, were projected outward, changing and affecting the physical environment in direct and objective terms."
The Southern "Ray Out"
The session ended with a trippy "projection of a kind." Seth picked up on some legal papers, a box, and a male’s death involving dates like 1876 or 1886, somewhere to the south. Jane felt a "ray out" sensation, like a strong concentration being sent in a southerly direction, even though she didn't feel like she was traveling.
