The return to the workplace is taking place against a time of economic challenges with the price of daily goods and services moving upwards, and a shortage of labour that is likely to continue even with the government's actions to open borders, and skills exemptions. For organisations that currently don’t have a clear approach to the new world of work and just use conventional approaches, they run the risk of being less competitive in the labour market, losing candidates and current employees to those organisations that are offering flexibility in work location and time.
