What do you actually believe—and why does it matter? In this message from our I Believe series, we turn to the Apostles’ Creed and focus on one of the most crucial truths of the Christian faith: the cross of Jesus Christ.

The cross is one of the most recognizable symbols in the world—and also one of the most misunderstood. Far from being an abstract idea or religious decoration, the cross is anchored in real history, marked by real suffering, and filled with real meaning for our lives today. As we explore what it means that Jesus “suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried,” we discover that the cross is not an unknown variable—it is the very center of our faith.

In this sermon, we look at:

Paul said it best: “I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” If we miss the cross, we miss Jesus. But when we truly understand the cross, we find the treasure of grace, restoration, and new life.

The cross is the crux of the matter—and the place where everything changes.
