Dr. Lia Uribe, educator and bassoonist, serves as the Associate Dean and Music Professor at the University of Arkansas. With a commitment to promoting underrepresented music, she actively commissions new bassoon works and has showcased her artistry as a guest artist in over 20 countries. Dr. Uribe's leadership extends to the creation of the innovative RefleXions Music Series, a project at the intersection of creative justice and artistic excellence, providing opportunities for reflection, learning, growth, change, and teaching. As the host of Sound Perimeter, an KUAF/NPR podcast, she amplifies diverse voices within and around the realm of music. A native of Colombia, Dr. Uribe holds degrees in bassoon performance from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Kansas, complemented by an MBA in Arts Innovation from the Global Leaders Institute. Notably, she has been selected for SphinxLEAD cohort #6, a prestigious 2-year leadership program empowering the next generation of executive leaders in the arts. In this capacity, Dr. Uribe contributes to reshaping the industry landscape through mentorship, networking, and leadership retreats at top institutions nationwide, emphasizing the program's dedication to fostering Black and Latinx arts leaders.
La Dra. Lia Uribe, educadora y fagotista, se desempeña como Decana Asociada y Profesora de Música en la Universidad de Arkansas. Con el compromiso de promover la música poco representada, encarga activamente nuevas obras de fagot y ha mostrado su arte como artista invitada en más de 20 países. El liderazgo de la Dra. Uribe se extiende a la creación de la innovadora serie musical RefleXions, un proyecto en la intersección de la justicia creativa y la excelencia artística, que brinda oportunidades para la reflexión, el aprendizaje, el crecimiento, el cambio y la enseñanza. Como presentadora de Sound Perimeter, un podcast de KUAF/NPR, amplifica diversas voces dentro y alrededor del ámbito de la música. Originaria de Colombia, la Dra.
