Description

Paul instructs us to leave no debt unpaid. The one exception is the debt we owe to Jesus, a debt that can never be repaid. Instead, Jesus asks us to pay it forward -- by loving others in the way that he has loved us. Paul instructs us to look for opportunities to love our neighbors rather than to look for loopholes out of God's invitation.

For Reflection:

When instructed to love his neighbor as himself, the scribe in Luke 10:29 asked, "Who is my neighbor?" He was looking for a loophole out of God's invitation to love.

- Do you feel indebted to Jesus for what he has done for you? Does this feeling lead you to joy and gratitude, or something else? Can you identify the people, places, and practices that increase your joy and gratitude?

- How might God be inviting you to express that joy and gratitude by loving someone else? Can you identify a specific person?
