As Jesus prepares to leave his disciples, he makes several promises of what will happen in his absence. First, his disciples will do even greater things than Jesus. How is that possible? Second, he promises to answer any prayer in his name. Really, any prayer? Third, he promises to send us the Holy Spirit, through whom he will be with us always. How do we understand and live into these incredible promises?

For Reflection:
Jesus makes several promises of what his disciples can expect in his absence.
- With so many promises given in such a small space, which of them seems most important to you at this time in your life? The promise to do greater things (v12), the promise about prayer (v13-14), the promise of the Holy Spirit (v16-17), or the promise to reveal himself to anyone who obeys his command out of love (v21)?
- Why might that particular promise appeal to you in this moment? Pray about that promise throughout the day.
