After Jesus restores Peter, you might imagine that he would be filled with gratitude, despite the warning about the way he would one day die as a martyr for Jesus. Instead, we see Peter turn around immediately and ask regarding John, "What about him?" Comparison kills joy and community. Instead, Jesus instructs Peter and us to focus on what God calls each of us to do in following him.

For Reflection:
You might imagine that Peter would be overcome with joy about his restoration but he immediately focuses on his rivalry with John.
- How have you seen comparison kill joy in you, or even kill love within a family or community? What choices do you have when tempted to compare yourself to others?
- Is there anyone you feel jealous of or resentful towards because of the blessings God has given them? What might God be inviting you to do to reclaim the joy of your own walk with Jesus?
