Darkness or Light? Which do you choose?
When we were last in Revelation 8, four of the seven trumpet judgments had fallen on the earth, destroying much of the natural world. The chapter ended with a heavenly messenger proclaiming woe upon the inhabitants of the earth, as the next judgments would turn away from nature and onto humanity--a humanity that has chosen time and again to cling to darkness rather than the light of God.
In this week’s Bible study, we return to Revelation 9 and look at the fifth trumpet judgment. We'll see what happens when God allows the gates of hell to be opened and its inhabitants released upon the earth. Who is the one called a fallen star? Who are the demons locked in the abyss? And how do these horrible judgments actually show our God of mercy still calling for a rebellious humanity to turn from the darkness to the One who is called the Light of men?
