Unflappable and focused, the cofounder of Cxmmunity, and HBCU-Made Chris Peay, cautions current students not to be in a rush to go nowhere. You’re going to get there, he believes, so why not pace yourself along the way? His journey at North Carolina Central University taught him that lesson. And fuels his drive to give back.
Action. Action and commitment defines true love for your HBCU, and not just words with no substantial meaning. That is Peay’s charge to all who say they love their HBCUs. In this week’s conversation on I Love My HBCU? Podcast, Chris discusses how it is only fair to give Black students who struggle with failure or having no idea what their future will look like, an opportunity to participate in something that many students take interest in and have fun doing — video gaming. That is part of the slow down; the necessity to stay focused, but also enjoy the journey. Peay’s Gaming Cxmmunity Co, is the first and only HBCU Esports League, and speaks to Black students who are interested in video games or professional gaming. Gamers and those who don’t quite get it, tune in to this conversation and who knows, you may become a gaming convert!
