Responding to criticisms of racism for his record-breaking THE BIRTH OF A NATION, filmmaking pioneer D.W. Griffith made this epic drama depicting intolerance through the ages. INTOLERANCE, a film nearly three hours in length, is positively astounding in size and scope. Did I understand each of the four stories? NOT AT ALL, but you know what? I stuck through it and pleasantly enjoyed this EPIC of all epics.
