Freddy Gale (Jack Nicholson) is a bereft jeweler whose daughter’s death due to a drunk driver has overtaken his whole life. Vengeance is first and foremost on his mind when the man responsible, John Booth (David Morse) is set to be released from prison after serving his time. After a botched attack, Gale gives Booth three days for them each to contemplate what good either of them still can do in this fucked up world.
