Description

Grant Amato, a Florida native, committed a horrific familicide in January 2019. Amato had developed an unhealthy obsession with a Bulgarian webcam model named Silviya Ventsislavova, whom he referred to as "Silvie" online. He spent over $200,000 of his family's money to pay for her webcam sessions, stealing credit cards from his family members to fund his addiction. When Amato's family intervened, sending him to a rehabilitation clinic for his pornography and internet addiction, he continued to secretly contact Silvie using his mother's phone. This led to a confrontation with his father, Chad, who ordered Amato to leave the family home. The following day, Amato shot and killed his father, mother, and brother Cody "execution-style" in their Seminole County, Florida home.

After the murders, Amato fled the scene in his 1996 Honda Accord, but was apprehended by authorities after a 24-hour manhunt. He was convicted of three counts of premeditated first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The tragic case of Grant Amato highlights the dangers of online obsession and the devastating consequences it can have. His inability to let go of his fixation on Silvie, the Bulgarian webcam model, ultimately led him to commit an unthinkable crime against his own family
