Episode 12: Once Around the Universe

Vs
I stumbled on her (literally), a heap
One night in the gutter of the street.
She’s just an old hag wearing about 50 lbs. of rags
They gather to her like coral to the reef.

Well I helped her to her feet.
Her breath assaulted me,
As she began to exclaim
In her way, indiscreet...

“I’ve been around the universe!
‘One time around the universe,’ He said,
‘To get you used to the place.
All this is yours now, My child.
The last shall be first now,’ He smiled,
“And in a split instant I knew it all.
Aweigh, away around the universe.
I find a home now in His face!”
Vs
I thought it was a lot of crazed babble from a cackling old goose,
I know her wits are running loose.
As she clamored on about some absurd venture,
That, at the same time, seemed branded with an intriguing tincture!

Seems like, last night while sleeping, she started freezing.
And colder, she said she'd never been.
It felt like a sickle of ice was cutting her within.
Like her head was being run through a wall
When suddenly it went all bright and warm,
Ch
“I’ve been around the universe!
‘One time around the universe,’ He said,
‘To get you used to the place.
All this is yours now, My child.
The last shall be first now,’ He smiled,
“And in a split instant, I knew it all.
Aweigh, away around the universe.
I find a home now in His face!”
Vs
How long does she suppose I will bite on these lies?
When the light of truth flips on in her eyes!
She continues: “I know about being all places at once,
And moving across the light years in one single stance.”
Br
I asked how I could help her.
She said: “There’s nothing here for me!
You can have all your summer homes and limos,
Me. I’ve got a bankroll in eternity!”
