The first one happened in 1876 between Republican Ohio Governor Rutherford B. Hayes and Democrat New York Governor Samuel Tilden.
The second one happened in 1888 between Democratic President Grover Cleveland and Republican Benjamin Harrison.
The third one happened in 1960 between Republican Vice President Richard Nixon and Democratic Senator John F. Kennedy.
The fourth one happened in 2000 between Republican Governor George Bush and Democratic Vice President Al Gore.
