Description

This week on The Light of Life, Naomi speaks with Holly. Holly shares her story of being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder where cells damage nerves. Naomi expresses she has never heard of GBS and Holly reveals she never heard of it either until she was diagnosed. Guillain-Barre is extremely rare, less than 0.00001% of the population has GBS. That is 1 out of every 100,000 people. Holly mentions a brilliant fact that the greatest contributor to chronic illness survival is motivation to get through the challenges.

Please excuse the background noise towards the end of the episode, I wrote subtitles right here with time stamps.

Here is what Holly said at the 12:55 mark: "Whether you're going through GBS or anything, chronic illness or every day struggle, it's really important to connect with other people who have gone through it already and you should connect with other people who are currently going through it. This will benefit everyone by helping each other out."

At the 14:00 mark, Holly says: "Yes, it is really hard to stay positive. You have to find it within yourself. If you can't find the strength within yourself, you can turn to other people and be inspired by the strength in others."
