Lalonie Willhite resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan and is the mother of three children. She is the Founder and CEO of Dream of Kalamazoo Hair Salon, LLC, a licensed cosmetology instructor, licensed cosmetologist, and an author.
Aside from doing hair, Lalonie enjoys being a part of hair shows around the world, watching other stylists’ creations while creating fascinating and extremely unique styles of her own. In her spare time, she creates items out of hair, such as shoes, vests, coats, and hairpieces, to name a few.
Her debut book, I've Already Made It! Breaking barriers through listening, prayer, and faith, has inspired her to speak more to people about her life experiences. Lalonie is dedicated to helping others in their fight to climb out of the many situations they may have endured in their life. She hopes to continue to inspire and make a change in the world we live in by sharing her story to anyone needing to clearly understand that they have already made it as long as they have God on their side.
As a young girl, she was thrown in the foster care and adoption system. She endured abandonment, homelessness, physical and mental abuse. Lalonie had no one to help her figure out how to sift through the hurt and pain and make sense of what she was going through.
Lalonie cried out . . . and God listened to her. He took her hand and walked her through this thing called life. He showed her it didn’t matter if she didn’t have anyone by her side because He was all she needed. All her suffering and pain was going to pay off if she would just hang on. He showed her not only how to become free mentally, but how to come into her own as a woman, how to bless others, and how to succeed and be the best version of herself.
