Today we’ll get our eyes on the only One who’s a perfect father, our heavenly Father. The very thought of father means different things to different people. We’ve all had a father . . . or have a father. You may not have ever known your father, or you may have known your father well. You may have a healthy relationship with your father, or the thought of a father may spark pain in your heart. Maybe you’re married to a man who’s the father of your kids, or you’ve got grown sons who are fathers, or maybe you’re a father yourself. I have two, like hopefully most people.

I have an earthly father who was a broken person. In my situation he found Jesus and the gospel transformed his life! It was through his praying father that he heard the gospel. His earthly, father that pastored two churches in Penny Farms and Palatka Florida, a short powerful man of God that reared eight children. Of course, the primary audience for the Lotus Flower Podcast is women, but we know that men listen in sometimes as well. So regardless of which of these categories you’re in,

I believe today’s program will be a sweet encouragement to you. Our guest today, Pastor James Cutts, is no stranger to me and my family. For over four decades, he and his family (his father the late gospel legend Mr. Tommy Cutts) have be fictive kin to my extended Haymon family in Cleveland, OH. Although, Pastor Cutts and me attended and graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapid, Michigan we only knew of one another from a distance, yet were always cordial to one another because of our shared family bond with our Haymon family in Cleveland, OH. Pastor Cutts is a renown gospel recording artist that was born into a musical family. At the tender age of four he started singing with his family quartet The Wings of Faith. At the age of 10, he had learned how to play the bass guitar and performed and recorded several songs with his sister.

Together, they shared the same stage with notable groups such as The Pilgrim Jubilee, Mighty Clouds of Joy and The Canton Spirituals to name a few. he was singing with his family quartet The Wings of Faith. At the age of 17, Pastor Cutts accepted the call to preach after performing and making several appearances with his friend and GRAMMY award winning musical legend Al Green. He credits Green for his overall musical knowledge and ministry acumen. At the age of 22, Cutts was an ordained minister and traveled across the world speaking to Spanish groups and various denominations.

In 2012, Pastor James Cutts received a Master’s degree in social work and served as a substance abuse counselor and worked with autism organizations. Years later, Pastor James Cutts ultimately was drawn back to music singing the Gospel and found himself recording with the Metropolitan Church choir and recording the song “Jesus, I’ll Never Forget” with Dr. Bobby Jones.

He’s performed and/or opened for greats such as James Cleveland, Kurt Carr and Fred Hammond to name a few. Pastor James Cutts has been supported by the famed Williams Brothers and has been publicly acknowledged by his hometown friends, family group The Debarge and Dr. Marvin Sapp - who credits Pastor Cutts as a progressive gospel trailblazer within the Grand Rapids area.
