Following Jesus sounds great and easy. We like to believe that Jesus will just wipe away our sins and life will be easy but that isn’t what Jesus promises. Jesus clearly said that “In this life you will have trouble” so we should expect to face trials and troubles. Accepting Jesus and receiving salvation is easy but following Jesus takes work and sacrifice. Carrying a cross is a brutal and agonizing process that us as Christ followers must go through everyday. It seems so hopeless but the ending of that verse gives each christian hope. “But take heart for I have overcome the world.”.
