Jacob Bitters' is a 34-year-old father of 3 who is desperately trying to rebuild relationships with his children after being out of their lives for so long. While incarcerated, he was fortunate enough to receive a degree from WASHU and to attend LaunchCode (still involved in both). He works with the STL Reentry Collective and is an advisor for WASHU PEP programs. In this episode, we discuss his recent release from incarceration, as well as the various challenges he has encountered. Mr. Jacob’s discusses dealing with the trauma of incarceration while trying to fit into a society that makes him feel unwanted. In addition, he discusses personal traumas that have impacted his life. Mr. Jacob describes that he is trying to build his life so that he can be the father, son, and brother that his family desperately needs.
