A fan of music and surf/snowboard/skate culture, Jack Laird built a career in sales for several surf and lifestyle brands, calling on clients throughout the East Coast. Eventually Jack transitioned into sales for some of the nation's largest beverage companies covering territories throughout the NYC area. Left unfulfilled and facing the prospect that a recent corporate sale would leave him starting from scratch with a new company, Jack was ready for a career change. Already inspired by classic shops, Jack took up the owner of prominent classic barber shop, Swagger & Blade on an offer for a year-long apprenticeship when he started barber school. It's not always easy to embark on an entirely new career, but Jack was humble and put in the hard work necessary to get through barber training and the demanding Swagger & Blade apprenticeship. While the outcome was not guaranteed, Jack ultimately earned his chair and jacket and now is a full-time barber. In his spare time Jack enjoys music, surfing, and can often be found with his co-workers providing free cuts in Asbury Park to those entering treatment programs.
