Throughout the Gospels, Jesus often revealed the heart of God over a meal. At tables, Jesus taught truth, extended grace, rebuked hypocrisy, offered forgiveness and redefined who belongs in God’s family. When Jesus accepts Levi’s invitation to dine with tax collectors and sinners, He extends grace and belonging to those society had pushed aside. This moment shows us that He came not for the self-assured, but for those who know their need for healing.
