Description

In this episode of OT Conversations, We discuss the importance and process of whiteboard meetings or handovers in a clinical setting. These briefings, often called board rounds or early morning huddles, occur regularly to ensure efficient communication and planning among interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. The aim is to provide a clear overview of patient status, plan the day's activities, and determine priorities for each discipline. We explain the benefits of using a whiteboard for real-time updates on patient information, expected discharge dates, and the allocation of responsibilities. We give emphasis to the need for effective coordination and the use of simple tools like traffic light systems to streamline communication and improve patient care. The goal is to reduce inefficiencies and ensure a smooth workflow, ultimately helping patients and supporting the NHS.
