Description

Nicole Buchanan is a dedicated and accomplished professional in dental hygiene. A 2013 graduate of Owens Community College in dental hygiene, Nicole earned her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and a master’s degree in public health from the Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health.

Nicole began her career at Owens as an adjunct faculty member in 2014 and was promoted to dental assisting coordinator in 2018. By 2021, she was hired as a full-time instructor in dental assisting, and in 2014, she moved to her current position as a dental hygiene instructor. In addition to her role at Owens, Nicole works for dental practices in Perrysburg and Toledo.

Her dedication to the field and her students has not gone unnoticed. In 2023, she received the Owens School of Nursing and Health Professions Teaching Excellence Award.

In 2024, she was honored with the American Association of Community Colleges Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award. This prestigious national award is given to select faculty members who make significant contributions to community college classrooms and demonstrate a profound commitment to their students' success.

As an alumna of Owens, Nicole constantly employs innovative ideas to enhance student learning outcomes. She understands that each student faces unique challenges and tailors her instruction to meet their individual needs.
