Al-Karim Hood was born on April 6, 1973 in East Orange, NJ at East Orange General Hospital and raised in Newark, NJ. As a kid he always loved acting and would do impersonations of people on the radio and television. He learned at an early age he could change his voice.
Al-Karim's mother is a Fashion Designer and he participated in many of her fashion shows and productions. It was there he realized he “Loved the spotlight.” As a teenager he fell in love with music and formed the group Hood Dynasty, consisting of his brother and two cousins all with the last name Hood. Later his music journey led him to a solo career where he scored two record deals, one in the U.S. and the other in Brazil.
Unfortunately, both record deals did not work out. However, he never lost his love for music or entertainment. He later would re-invent himself and go to his original love of acting. He became a self-taught actor, writer, director, producer, editor and music scorer for all of his productions.
Al-Karim would later take an extra leap of faith and fly to California to do his first stand up comedy show, where he would discover he also has a love for being a comedian. A-Hood considers him self more than a triple threat! He is a creative force and leader, who is hungry to share his multi-talents with the world.
His motto is, “To change the world one project at a time.”
