About Lucenia Ortiz: Lucenia Ortiz is a trailblazer in community advocacy, having worked as a planner with the City of Edmonton’s Citizen Services. She’s one of the founding members of the Edmonton Multicultural Coalition and has played a crucial role in the Multicultural Health Brokers Co-op, serving as Co-Executive Director for over a decade.

Lucenia’s journey began when she and her family migrated to Edmonton, where she embraced the challenge of returning to school at the University of Alberta. Since then, she’s made an incredible impact, co-chairing the Alberta Anti-Racism Advisory Council and sitting on the board of AWARE—an organization dedicated to workers’ rights and education.
