Description

In this teaser, the Doggett brothers do the impossible. We make the assassination of Civil Rights proponent and Black Panther leader Fred Hampton funny. Okay, maybe not funny exactly, but at least not insanely depressing.

How do we do it? By pretending this movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, seeing how many Jesse Plemons references we can make, and raging against the machine. All in a day’s work on Raised By Video.

We also delve into the politics of the 1960s, how shady the FBI was (is?), and how director Shaka King managed to get such good performances out of seemingly every actor in this film. Both Daniel Kaluuya (who won Best Supporting Actor for this role) and LaKeith Stanfield bring their A-game in this one, and the film gets high marks from all the brothers.

Listen now for a fun and lively discussion of this heavy and gut-wrenching film.

Judas and the Black Messiah is a 2021 historical drama directed and produced by Shaka King, from a screenplay written by King and Will Berson. It stars Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, and Martin Sheen.
