Is The Order the best 2024 crime thriller you’ve never heard of?
This based-on-a-true-story film flew under the radar for us until it hit streaming platforms, and it’s such a shame it didn’t get more publicity. Jude Law’s performance blows us away in this simple yet impactful cops-and-robbers film set in 1980s Pacific Northwest. Law plays an FBI agent, while Nicholas Hoult plays a domestic terrorist with his sights set on a white ethnostate.
There’s little to gripe about in this film, so we have a great time discussing the things we liked. From the music and cinematography, to the performances and the visual style, The Order provides plenty and leaves us wanting more.
Our few instances of criticism have to do with Hoult’s performance and some of the special effects.
Listen to this teaser as we dig into the (mostly) good, the bad, and everything in between.
