This week the guys finally dust off the debut album from Rancid’s 1993 self-titled debut, recorded as a trio before Lars joined the band. “Rats in the Hallway” is a surprisingly angular blazer of a track, and one of Rancid’s prototypical formats - speaking about the squalor and pain of a lower class neighborhood - is born. Some real inventive song structures are revealed and Matt again gets some much deserved love.
