Description

Bob Hunter is a 16-year veteran of the SASR and recipient of the Sword of Honour Leadership Award

A Troop and Squadron Commander, he was directly involved in all aspects of Australia's Special Forces, including National Counter Terrorist Crisis Management and Response. He also served in the Parachute Battalion, as a UN military observer, and in operations in Cambodia, and Bougainville.

Bob was the Squadron Commander of an SAS unit, operating at the highest level of capability. It was this unit involved in the tragic Blackhawk accident in 1996. He led in the SAS through a time of crisis. He led through grief and trauma. He led his squadron - Australia's counter terrorism force - back to operational readiness within 72 hours of the accident.
