This was a public access Facebook free online media event with the aim to be a regional mass cause of support to recover in health, spirits, and or poise and promote HM Government Prevent Awareness. The purpose of Prevent is to safeguard vulnerable people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism, by engaging with people who are vulnerable to radicalisation and protecting those who are being targeted by terrorist recruiters. As one part of the CONTEST strategy, Prevent sits alongside other work that includes Pursue (stopping terrorist attacks happening in the UK and overseas), Protect (strengthen protection against a terrorist attack in the UK or overseas), and Prepare (mitigate the impact of a terrorist incident if it occurs). Prevent deals with all forms of terrorism, including Islamist and extreme right-wing, and does not focus on any one community. In order to be showing continual support of the Home Office Campaign and its Prevent duty guidance that is available as three eLearning packages.
Prevent Awareness
This package offers an introduction to the Prevent duty and explains how it aims to safeguard vulnerable people from being radicalised to supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists themselves.
Prevent Referrals
This package builds on the Prevent awareness eLearning training. It is designed to make sure that when we share a concern that a vulnerable individual may be being radicalised, that the referral is robust, informed, and with good intention, and that the response to that concern is considered, and proportionate.
Channel Awareness
This training package is for anyone who may be asked to contribute to, sit on, or even run a Channel Panel. It is aimed at all levels, from a professional asked to input and attend for the first time, to a member of staff new to their role and organising a panel meeting.
